Monitoring and Impact Evaluation Initiative for Export and Investment Promotion Agencies
The primary goals of this collaborative initiative between the IDB, the Ibero-American Network of Trade and Investment Promotion Organizations (Red Ibero), and the Latin American and Caribbean countries' export and investment promotion agencies are (i) to create a common baseline monitoring and impact evaluation framework for these agencies; (ii) to develop an automated impact evaluation tool that assess the effectiveness of agencies' promotional efforts applying difference-in-differences and matching combined with difference-in-differences on export and investment and promotion assistance micro data; and (iii) to support the agencies in the adoption, implementation, and tailoring of the tool for recurrent self-use and thus in the mainstreaming of impact evaluation in their institutional practices.
The following agencies/countries are participating at this ongoing initiative: Agencia Argentina de Inversiones y Comercio Internacional (Argentina), APEX (Brasil), PROCHILE (Chile), Invest Chile (Chile), PROCOLOMBIA (Colombia), CINDE (Costa Rica), PROCOMER (Costa Rica), Ecuador, PROESA (El Salvador), Honduras, JAMPRO (Jamaica), Mexico, PRONICARAGUA (Nicaragua), REDIEX(Paraguay), PROMPERU (Peru), PROINVERSION (Peru), Investt (Trinidad and Tobago), and URUGUAY XXI (Uruguay).
Quantitative Intelligence Initiative for Export and Investment Promotion Agencies
The primary goal of this collaborative initiative between the IDB and the Latin American countries' export and investment promotion agencies is to help these agencies better guide their promotional efforts and thus increase their effectiveness through the development and implementation of an automated intelligence tool that uses available micro data in a systematic way. This initiative is currently in a pilot stage and is carried out in partnership with CINDE (Costa Rica).
